SESSION INFORMATION
The sound bath experience will take between 45 minutes and an hour and begins with a warm welcome. We will prepare for it with a simple, short and gentle yoga series that will help us become more present mentally and physically.
But before that, it's nice to have a few things in place. Please be sure to wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. Having a small meal or snack an hour or so beforehand, being well hydrated, taking any anti-inflammatories you may need ahead of time and a last minute trip to the bathroom can all add to your comfort during our session.
After settling in to a relaxing position, a soothing background track will be started. The ideal position relative to the handpan is laying supine on a padded yoga mat, with supportive pillows in place as needed. We can also set up in a sitting position if that is more helpful. Many people find deep immersion is possible with their eyes closed, but this is optional. Stillness comes naturally to some people and not others, movement during the session may be necessary for comfort and is welcome at any time.
The first fifteen minutes of the sound bath includes a short explanation about the resonance and effects of sound, and the handpan is played in a steady, grounding rhythm. The conversation fades out and the focus is on the soothing tones of the handpan. This will help reset the body and mind as it slows and deepens. As this portion comes to an end, I will verbally check in with you.
The next ten to fifteen minutes will serve to carry you along a pleasurable path as the music changes. The background track will now be the gentle sounds of a waterfall, soft wind and deep space. The handpan will explore different melodies that are engaging and uplifting. As this portion comes to an end, I will quietly speak up to let you know it is time for a moment of silent absorption before re-engaging with our daily lives with a new calm.
